What should I do if I don't have the unique code (Codice Univoco)?
The unique code for electronic invoicing in Italy is a 7-character alphanumeric identifier assigned by the Italian Revenue Agency (Agenzia delle Entrate) to authorized intermediaries, such as software houses and invoicing service providers. This code is necessary to receive electronic invoices via the Sistema di Interscambio (SDI).
If you don't have the unique code, you can follow these options:
- Provide an alternative code: To receive an electronic invoice, you can provide your supplier with one of the following identifiers:
- SDI recipient code (Codice Univoco): the 7-character code provided by the Italian Revenue Agency.
- PEC (Certified Email): If you don’t have the unique code, you can provide a registered PEC email address to receive invoices.
- Tax Code (Codice Fiscale) or VAT Number (Partita IVA): In the absence of an SDI code or PEC, the system will use your tax code or VAT number to deliver the invoice to your reserved area on the Agenzia delle Entrate website.
- Request the unique code: The unique code is provided by your electronic invoicing service provider. Be sure to obtain it to facilitate receiving invoices.
- Register the unique code: Once you have received it, you can register the unique code in the "Fatture e Corrispettivi" portal of the Agenzia delle Entrate to automatically link the SDI code to the invoices you receive.
