I sent an SMS to my IoT device, but I didn’t receive a response. What should I do?

If your IoT device isn’t replying to SMS messages, please check the following:

  • Device configuration: Make sure the IoT device is properly configured and that the admin number is set with the correct international prefix.
  • Outgoing SMS format: When sending SMS messages, always include the full international prefix before the number (e.g. +39 or 0039 for Italy).
  • Incoming SMS format: Messages sent to the Things Mobile number must also include the correct international prefix, preceded by + or 00.
  • Mobile plan settings: Check with your local operator that your mobile plan supports sending and receiving international SMS messages.
