Why can’t my SIM card send or receive SMS messages?
First, make sure you're using the correct format when sending SMS:
- When sending an SMS to a number from another operator, include the full international dialing code with 00 or + (e.g. +39 or 0039 for Italy).
- When sending an SMS to a Things Mobile number, make sure to use +882... or 00882....
If the format is correct but the message is not delivered, try the following steps using a smartphone:
(1) Test sending SMS from Things Mobile to another operator
- Insert the SIM card into a smartphone.
- Enable mobile data and data roaming.
- Set the APN to TM.
- Make sure the SIM card connects to an available network automatically.
- Send an SMS to a number from another operator and check if it’s delivered.
- If not, manually select a different network and try again.
- Repeat with different operators and phone numbers.
(2) Test receiving SMS from another operator to Things Mobile
- Use a phone with a SIM card from another operator.
- Send an SMS to the Things Mobile number.
- If not delivered, try switching to another network and send again.
- Repeat with different operators.
If SMS messages are not delivered or only partially delivered, contact customer support at support@thingsmobile.com with the following details:
- The operator of the number that didn’t receive or send the SMS;
- The operator the Things Mobile SIM was connected to during the test;
- Date and local time of the SMS attempt;
- Any error messages or screenshots, if available.
